2023 Kia Seltos Safety Rating
The infotainment system has been praised for its ease of operation, and every Seltos is equipped with a nice complement of standard safety features, such as forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, auto-dimming headlamps, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning, earning a top score and "Top Safety Pick" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).Even more safety and convenience features are available depending on the trim level. A 10.3-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the LX, which has an 8-inch screen.
2023 Kia Seltos Engines, Transmissions, Gas Mileage
Two engine and transmission combinations are available, the standard 2.0L 4 cyl., producing 146 hp and mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and the more powerful turbocharged 1.6L that produces 175 hp and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.AWD is standard on all but the S trim level, which is FWD. The base engine with FWD delivers up to 35 mpg hwy, while the turbo engine with AWD delivers up to 30 mpg hwy.
The AWD system adds sure-footed capability in wet, slippery, or snowy conditions and mild off-roading, but also enhances handling and safety under all conditions, giving the driver an unmistakable feeling of better cornering and greater control, making the Seltos very enjoyable to drive.
One improvement that bears noting is that for 2023 Kia has added acoustic glass windshields to the Seltos line, and this results in a significantly quieter ride.
2023 Kia Seltos Trim Levels
The 2023 Kia Seltos has five trim levels: LX, S, EX, Nightfall, and SX Turbo.The EX level and above include a power sunroof (optional on the SX Turbo), heated front seats, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, wireless phone charging, and a 10-way power adjustable driver's seat.
The Nightfall Edition features blacked-out cosmetic elements, including 18-inch black alloy wheels. Both the Nightfall and SX Turbo have the 1.6L engine and AWD standard.
The SX Turbo also has 18-inch alloy wheels and adds LED headlights and fog lights, a two-tone roof, adaptive cruise control, and an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
The SX Turbo also includes cyclist detection, and Highway Driving Assist, Kia's semi-autonomous self-driving system that can steer, brake, and accelerate the vehicle without driver input.
