2021 Kia Sorento vs 2020 Kia Sorento

Serving Gainesville, FL

The Kia Sorento is the rugged and well-equipped crossover SUV that leaves no room for disappointment. In 2021, the Sorento’s fourth-generation launches with exciting improvements throughout the trim line. At Jenkins Kia of Gainesville, our customers frequently ask us about the differences between the 2020 and 2021 Sorento, and we are excited to help you examine these differences in great detail.

The differences begin under the hood with the introduction of two hybrid engines in the 2021 Sorento. The standard hybrid engine is connected to a 1.6-liter turbo engine, and the result is 227 net horsepower. The plug-in hybrid is linked to the same turbo engine, and it produces 261 net horsepower. The 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas engine produces 185 horsepower in 2020 and 191 horsepower in 2021. It is linked to an eight-speed auto transmission. The turbo 2.5-liter gas engine produces 290 horsepower in 2020 and 281 horsepower in 2021. It continues to be paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

For 2021, the Sorento’s wheelbase is longer. This alters the exterior design and the spaciousness of the cabin. The exterior also shows off beautiful improvements to the grille, LED headlights, lower fascia in the front and rear, and other design elements. The interior has also been revamped with a fresh design across the dashboard. Premium trim levels include leather material with metal and open-pore wood accents.

Updates to the three-row cabin are also present. In 2021, the Sorento adds an optional 12.3-inch screen for the instrumentation gauges and up to a 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment system. The wireless charging pad and eight USB ports that are available in select 2021 Sorento trim levels are also new additions. Other types of equipment for the 2021 Sorento are unchanged, and some of these trim-specific features include a moonroof, smart device integration, heated seats, and more.
